Is it hard to find a job as a paramedic?

Depends on what you mean by "Paramedic". Just to use California soon after the beginning of the EMT program for an example, EMT-1 there was primarily invovled in transport of the patient and only transport. The course for EMT-1 used to be 18 weeks, 2 nights a week. In contrast, EMT-2 at the time was a firefighter who, after completing their firefighter training, went on to do extensive EMT training, which took many weeks. NYC on the other hand had -- at one point -- 4 levels of paramedic, ranging from something like California's EMT-1 to Paramedic 4 that was allowed to prescribe/administer certain medications, based on their own decision. The Paramedic 4 listing was a difficult training regimen, and required in-field time spent at the 1, 2 and 3 levels. So it depends on which State or country, and which level of training you wish to acquire. That said, paramedics are one of the groups that seems to really like their job, and has a comparatively low turnover rate. So it's hard but worth it. Most EMT training can be any where from 4 weeks to 16 weeks, depending on the school. Paramedic training can be 6 months to 2 years, depending on the school. There are a lot of schools out there that just want the money and do not care about giving you the education you need to preform the job. Best to find a 2 year degree program from a community college. This will give you the best education.
