Aircraft Carriers were the foundation of fighting in the oceans of the world and they were the reason the fighting between the US and the Japanese was so difficult. Both sides had carriers and great planes with good pilots. If it had not been for the carriers the war would not have been won by the Allied Forces.

The Japanese could not keep building new ships and thousands of planes or train thousands of pilots because they lacked the metals, oil and other materials. The pilot training done by the Japanese took much longer than the US pilot training so the US could keep replacing pilots, unlike Japan.
