If used to much or too often, heat can damage your by frying it and making it look ratty. Also heat can create slipt ends. Someone I know has actually lost hair because they straightend their hair almost everyday for almost a year. They had to buy extensions, not because they wanted longer hair, but because they needed these to make it look like they had more than a little hair. Some people don't even realize it, but blow-drying your hair can also be very damaging. Try letting your hair dry naturally ocasionally. You will be pleased. Beware that heat isn't the only way to kill your hair. Dying your hair is also dangerous. Anything harmful to your hair can permanatly ruin your hair and make it harder or impossible to grow any back. BE CAREFUL.
I hope this helps:)
Heat can cause damage to the hair structure by breaking down proteins, leading to weakened hair shafts. The heat can also strip the hair of its natural moisture, making it dry and brittle. Excessive use of heat styling tools can result in split ends, frizz, and overall dullness and lack of shine.

The retention of solar heat is just one effect...
Too much of hot water damages the hair as the heat in the water dries up the surface of the scalp. This will affect the moisture content of the scalp. The structure of the hair and the scalp gets enriched by water that is neither too hot nor too cold.
Penetrating conditioners penetrate the cuticle layer and acts on the coretex.

When neutralizer is applied to hair, it breaks down the hair's cysteine and sulphur bonds. This allows curls to form and stay for a while.
