∙ 9y agoThe accounting format sets the figures into currency and sets their alignment in a standard way so that the currency symbol is always positioned in the same place as it is in all values. Currency format always puts the currency symbol right beside the numbers, so they are not always in the same position in relation to the other figures.

Ctrl+Shift+$ will format a number cell as currency.
Use the Format Number tab, with the cells that you want to change the format for selected. Then choose General and it will set that formatting for those cells.
The comma style will format numbers with two decimal places and insert commas as thousand separators. So if you had a number like 3455679 in a cell and formatted it as comma style, it would come up as:3,455,679.00

Select the cells you want. Press Ctrl-1 to open the Format Cells dialog box. Under the Number tab and pick the Accounting option and click OK.
Select the row by clicking on the row number first (or the column by clicking on the column letter). Once selected any formatting you change will apply in every cell selected. More than one row or column may be selected or any group of cells and the same will apply
in the Number group on the Home tab. (If you want to apply the Currency format instead, select the cells, and press Ctrl+Shift+$.)
