A moratorium on all commercial whaling has been in place since 1986. It was established by the International Whaling Commission. So for all intents and purposes commercial whaling is already banned.Iceland, Norway, and Japan continue to defy the moratorium. However, the whaling industries in these nations are often propped up with government subsidies.Whaling is not a significant contributor to the economic success of any of the three nations that kill whales on an industrial scale. In fact, even in these countries, the consumer demand for whale meat has consistently declined for decades. The expense of whale meat is not simply measured in the cost of production. Whaling negatively affects the national image and risks public backlash in the form of consumer boycotts. In conclusion, banning whale hunting in Iceland, Norway, and Japan would temporarily negatively affect the small number of workers already in the industry but would only have a negligible impact on their economies overall. On a positive note, tax-funded subsidies could be ended immediately and eco-tourism (a fast growing and profitable modern industry) could provide much greater revenue than whaling.
Well, Japan is doing alot of whaling, so i'd have to guess they would be eating them.
Main reasons would be the reduction of the global whale population and as a result, the 1986 ban on commercial whaling. However, countries like Japan is still doing but in past 6 years, Japan has failed to make a profit of their whaling industry due to a environmental activist non governmental organisation called Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and they have intervene their whaling by trying to reinforce the commercial whaling ban without the use of violence. For other countries, it is just to the fact that people aren't interested as much due to publicity with Japan's Whaling industry.
Some of the main exports to/ from Japan would include silk, seaweed, and most of all tea.
I would say that banning text would be a conservative idea. Texting is considered to be a liberal and free idea, so banning it while driving would be conservative.
No they are not - why would they
That depends. If you're from Japan or Norway apparently nothing...
Japan Tobacco would lose the profits from the Philip Morris cigarettes and would begin competing with the company in Japan and abroad.
That would be because of whaling.
It's hard to say but the earliest signs of whaling activity would be as earliest as 6000BC based on archaeological finds.
The effect of capital injection in country like Japan would result into more production. This will also mean that the economy will be boosted and set up for growth.
That would depend on whether you are the whale or the person doing the whaling. If you are the whale, I would say the answer would be NO whaling is NOT good. If you are the whaler, you might say it is good because it provides you with a means to support yourself and or your family. As a supporter of Greenpeace, I personally say that whaling is about as good as bludgeoning a baby seal to death. Why don't you google Greenpeace and watch some video's then decide for yourself whether or not it is "good".
