It resulted in a ton of new inventions, like steam-powered engines (a lot of things became steam-powered). It also resulted in child labor laws, as people finally realized you can't put five-year-olds to work in mills and coal mines. There are many other things that I can't remember...for that, just try Wikipedia :D
The Industrial Revolution has completely changed the lives of most people living in developed countries. Most citizens now have several hours every day that is not devoted to simply keeping food on the table, clothing on their backs and a roof over their heads - prior to the Industrial Revolution most people spent 16 hours a day just maintaining basic living conditions.
The Industrial Revolution also increased the material possessions of most people - from just a few changes of clothing to the walk-in closets of today, from a single set of basic dishes to the 16-person sets sold now, from a few basic pieces of furniture to the dozens of large pieces common now. In effect, how the middle class of the United States lives today was only available to the upper nobility and royalty just two centuries ago.
there arent many people now living in the countryside but we now aer living in cities, our population has gone right up and we take a lot of things like iron for granted because they are so easy to make where as before the IR they couldnt make iron very easily. and an awful lot more people were living out in the countryside.

The effect of the Industrial Revolution is still being felt today, but mostly taught the 'industrialized' world how NOT to be industrial (labor laws, OSHA, etc).Decreased travel timesGlobal population increase

The life we live today began with the industrial revolution and on that foundation we continue to build and change the world with our computer systems and information revolution. Things don't happen in a vacuum and without the inventions of the industrial revolution we wouldn't have our world.
The world could feed a bigger population.
