Biodiversity is reduced because of large scale growing of single varieties of crops (monoculture) which means that there is less land for other species to grow and less support for the organisms which depend on those other plants. Less productive varieties can be neglected and die out. Using insecticides and herbicides on the crops kills all sorts of animals and plants whether they damage the crops or not. These chemicals can also spread in the air and into streams, ending up killing things that were never intended.

How has modern farmig methods overused the land?

Modern farming methods have resulted in overuse of land through practices such as monocropping, excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and continuous tillage. These practices can lead to soil erosion, depletion of nutrients, loss of biodiversity, and reduced soil fertility over time. It is important for farmers to adopt sustainable farming practices to prevent further degradation of the land.
