For most of his life, he had no other job- he was a professional composer and musician, and was employed by the Austrian court, as well as producing commissioned pieces for wealthy patrons, guilds, noblemen and state events. When he wasn't composing classical pieces and operas, he played in orchestras or gave recitals of his own and other composer's work, being proficient on a number of different instruments. He also taught music to private students- one of whom was the young Ludwig Von Beethoven, by who he was extremely impressed!
His musical career started at a very early age, when he was little more than a child, and he was only 35 when he died, so he had little time aside from his musical work for anything else. He is known to have spent a brief time as an actor before he became famous, but played only supporting roles and 'bit' parts for very low wages. As a child and teenager, he may have had various part-time work serving in shops or being employed by various tradesmen as an assistant, but this would only have been to raise money to finance his musical ambitions.

∙ 11y agoEven though Mozart was a busy composer, he liked doing many other things other than just composing music. Very often, he liked staying over at his friends' houses playing music until 2AM in the morning! He also loved dancing, and loved spending his money on fashionable clothes. While Mozart was still in Salzburg as a court musician his fellow horn player Leutgeb was usually the butt of his jokes and pranks. He liked making potty jokes and writing cheeky letters to his girl cousin Maria and his sister Nannerl (later called Marianne). He kept pets: a Pomeranian dog named Pepperl, a starling, a horse which he often rode. It is often said as well that he acted like a child all his life, playing with his toy soldiers up till his late twenties. It is hard to believe how he managed to write so many compositions and yet still fit around it time to be a social butterfly.
