Historians define the end of "ancient" history and the beginning of the Middle Ages in Old World history as the date of the fall of Rome. Rome fell in 476 AD when the last Roman Emperor was overthrown by Odoacer, who became the first King of Italy.
All.
Neither. The ancient Romans ousted their kings in 509 BC and formed the republic. The republic was ruled by the Roman people (technically) who elected their officials. The period of rule by the emperors came after the fall of the republic and was called the principate.
Roman Empire, Greek Empire, and Persian Empire
Ancient means: having had an existence of many years. Ancient can be of or relating to a distant time, to a span early in history, or to those living in such a period or time, and especially of or relating to the historical period beginning with the earliest known civilizations and extending to the fall of the western Roman Empire in AD 4763. Ancient can also describe something that has the charicteristics of age or long existence such as old-fashioned or antique.
"Ancient history" is usually deemed to have ended with the fall of the Roman Empire. Since then we have had successively the Early Middle Ages, the High Middle Ages, the Renaissance period, the Early Modern Era and the Napoleontic and Victorian era. That's just Western history, of course; countries like China and Japan have their own important historical periods.
Because throughout history there has been countless revolutions and social upheaval. All nations and empires fall and are replaced. The status quo never stays so for too long.
The Renaissance was the period in history most influence by classic Greek and Roman works. After the fall of Constantinople, many Greek and Roman scholars fled to Italy and Western Europe, prompting a new surge of interest in ancient literature and a desire to reproduce their culture.
The fall of the Zhou Dynasty in ancient China led to a period of political fragmentation, social unrest, and warfare among regional states. This era, known as the Warring States period, saw the rise of powerful warlords and the eventual unification of China under the Qin Dynasty. The fall of the Zhou Dynasty also marked the end of the feudal system and the beginning of centralized imperial rule in China.
