The ancient Egyptian is an example of an empire that found honeybees. The insects in question (Apis spp) number among frequent, important symbols within the hieroglyphic language of the ancient Egyptians. Beekeeping for beeswax and honey tracks back at least to 2500 B.C. in ancient Egypt.
