the first time we see trunks is he travels back in time to stop the androids (he looks at about 18 years old), we also see him as a kid in dragonball gt, and we see him when he's about 16 in Dragonball Z: the history of trunks
Bardock doesn't really appear in an 'Episode' but one of the first Movies that started Dragon Ball off called "Bardock: Father of Goku"(if i remember correctly). But he did make short appearances on Dragon Ball Z in the Frieza Saga, but for a short amount of time and shows basically part of the ending of the original movie. So Bardock came in the movie ;where he gets most screen time and Goku screen time added together is about 5mins(at-most).Also i recommend the Movie to all Dragon ball and Dragon Ball Z fans(also to Dragon Ball GT, people don't really count it but as a big Filler and not true to the Dragon Ball Z story. But i still like it though, to me it is still the Dragon Ball Z i grew up in Note:I didn't grow in the Dragonball Era), It explains allot and clears missing pieces in the Frieza Saga.
