There is no one dominate ethnic group in Canada. The majority in many areas are first (immigrants) and second generation Canadian primarily from Asia, Indian, China and other. The largest hyphenated Canadians would be French-Canadian's at about 25%. Many Canadians are ethnically Canadian (about 20 to 30% do not hyphenate their Canadianism). Many of them originate from Canada and proudly so. Ethnic Canadians have faced jail for claiming to be ethnically Canadian on Canadian census. After a few hundred years they have no connection to any other land, other than historically in which case we are all African mostly via Europe and Asia.
One reason is that many of its people identify more strongly with regional and ethnic groups than with the nation as a whole. Most of the population are of British and French ancestry.
Most ethnic groups share a common culture which is their main connection point. Each of the native ethnic groups had their unique culture which they shared and some cut across the board to other ethnic groups.
Assyrians don't, and never, as an ethnic group, have lived in Europe. They originate from Mesopotamia, and only small groups of immigrates have established communities in Europe.
Colonizers ignored ethnic groups when drawing political borders. Most countries have diverse ethnic groups.
Mostly European countries and countries with a history of colonization by Europeans. Christianity has spread all over the world, and includes people of most ethnic groups. That does not mean that most ethnic groups study Christianity.

Most New World countries (the Americas) have rather peaceful relations between ethnic groups as do most European countries. Africa and Asia, by and large, have acrimonious relationships between ethnic groups.
