Navy Lt. Alfred E. Nauman, Jr., was reported Missing in Action (MIA) during the Korean War, on October 18, 1952. Nauman was assigned to VF-871, flying an F4U-4 Corsair from the USS Essex (CV-9).
His aircraft was reportedly hit by anti-aircraft fire during a Search and Rescue (SAR) mission. To date no trace of him or his remains have yet been found.
He became a pilot in the Air Force.
