Genetically modified foods are not harmful for human consumption. All our current foodstuffs are essentially genetically modified already through hundreds and thousands of years of selective cross-breeding for bigger and better crops. Protesters focus of the potential impact to indigenous species as well as the supposed threat of "big business" taking over agriculture.
