At first many soldiers were patriotic, but after months in trench warfare they became depression, angry, and with a feeling of hopelessness. Almost all the soldiers were scarred. The dog tags on the statue of the three soldiers, part of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., are located on the soldiers' necks. These tags are a poignant detail that symbolizes the soldiers' identities and sacrifices. They serve as a reminder of the personal cost of war and honor those who served in Vietnam. The tags contribute to the emotional impact of the statue, highlighting the individual stories behind the collective experience of soldiers.
