Over all the main cause for the problem that the pilgrims had was that they were unprepared. On the boat ride over to the colonies, many men and women got sick and died. The food on the boat became infested with worms and parasite's, making it useless.

When they arrived in the new world, many were already sick. They did not know how to grow successful crops in the New World, which left them without food. There is a story of one Pilgrim that ate his wife. no kidding, he was hanged, but back on topic

Lack of food

unprepairdness

weak immune systems
