The people needed slaves. So the popularity of slave trading grew higher. The people who were selling the slaves would earn a lot for a single slave piece. That also made the popularity higher. African Americans were just thought as the owner's property. During the trips to sell the slaves, more than 100 died on board or on water.
Earning greater profits caused slave owners to trade their slaves. This affected condititions on the Middle Passage because it became a terrifying and deadly journey that could last for more than 2 or 3 months.
