The fart of Leonardo da vinci
One notable example of Mannerism from the Italian Renaissance is Michelangelo's "Last Judgment," painted on the altar wall of the Sistine Chapel. This work features elongated figures, complex poses, and a heightened emotional intensity that diverges from the balanced composition and clarity typical of earlier Renaissance art. Mannerism often emphasizes artificiality and exaggerated forms, which can be seen in the dramatic expressions and dynamic arrangements of figures in this masterpiece.
Reformation?
The Italian Renaissance (note capitalization) is not a genre but a period of Italian history which saw major developments in a variety of artistic genres.
Mannerism emerged during the Italian High Renaissance in approximately 1520 CE and lasted until about 1580 CE. It was influenced by the harmonious ideals of the Renaissance. The early renaissance was a period of intellectualism and mannerism artists wanted to push intellectual sophistication one step further.
Engravings.
Well, the Renaissance is divided into two parts: early and high. So really, the High Renaissance would be considered the transitional period between Early Renaissance and Baroque. In most of Europe, the High Renaissance lasted until about 1600, when the Baroque period began. In Italy, the High Renaissance technically lasted until 1600, but around 1520, another artistic movement became popular: Mannerism. Mannerism was a movement dominated by complicated, intellectual art. Allegories, distorted figures, and complicated compositions are characteristic of this movement. Other Italian artists persisted in the High Renaissance style, so that time frame (1520 to 1600) is still considered to be part of the High Renaissance.

The Italian word "maniera" translates to "manner" or "style" in English. In the context of Mannerism, it refers to a particular artistic approach characterized by complexity, elegance, and an emphasis on artificiality over naturalism. Mannerist artists often employed exaggerated poses, unusual proportions, and intricate compositions to convey emotion and tension in their works. This style emerged in the late Renaissance as a reaction against the balance and harmony of High Renaissance art.
Michelangelo was primarily a sculptor (e.g. the David statue) during the High Renaissance, but he is also famous for his paintings in the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican.
The geographic factor that contributed to the rise of the Renaissance in Italian city-states was their location at the crossroads of trade routes between Europe and the East. This brought wealth, new ideas, and a diverse mix of cultures to cities like Florence and Venice, fostering an environment conducive to artistic and intellectual flourishing.
