Christianity was an open, all inclusive religion which actively sought converts. It featured a charitable God who would forgive all sins as long as the adherents expressed faith and trust in him. As members of the Roman Empire, Christians were able to roam the kingdom seeking converts. Stories of their Martyrdom drew admiration, and the conversion of Constantine made it the official state religion.

Charlemagne helped cause the unity in Europe by trying to have everyone unite through the religion Christianity. (There are some more factors in what united Europe, but that was all I could find.)

The efforts of these individuals, along with the establishment of monasteries and the support of various monarchs, helped to solidify Christianity's presence across the continent.
Peter and Paul were very active spreading Christianity. They took it to Europe and Peter dies in Rome.
Charlemagne helped spread Christianity throughout the Frankish Empire and the lands he conquered. He spread Christianity through both peaceful conversion efforts and military conquests.
