A famous outlaw on the Mexican American frontier
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid had a complicated relationship that evolved from acquaintances to adversaries. Initially, they were on friendly terms, as Garrett was a sheriff and Billy was a notorious outlaw. However, as Garrett took on the role of lawman, their paths diverged, ultimately leading to Garrett's pursuit and killing of Billy in 1881. Their relationship is often seen as emblematic of the conflict between law and outlaws in the American West.
