More than 120 years after its introduction, the fedora hat is experiencing another revival among popular menswear fashions. The fedora has had many rises and descents in popularity, running the cultural gamut from middle-class women to businessmen, to Orthodox Jews, to gangsters and private-eyes, to the rude boys of ska, to modern rappers and other celebrities. The fedora acquired its name from the French play, Fedora, by Victorien Sardou when the play's US adaptation featured Princess Fedora wearing this style of hat in 1889. The hat became a staple of women's fashions through the 1890s in its first fashion reign. Made of felt, the fedora had a teardrop shape and an indentation down the center of the crown. It also featured a brim about 2' wide around the hat's base with the brim's front pushed downward, and a thin band encircling the hat just above the brim. In the early 20th century, the fedora became a menswear favorite among upper classes; and among Heredi and other Orthodox Jews in black only. Then in the liquor prohibition era of the 1920s, the fedora became a staple of fashion amongst gangsters, reporters, and private detectives. The fedora escalated in popularity in the classic movies of the 1940s and '50s via stars such as Frank Sinatra and Humphrey Bogart. The casual baseball cap largely replaced the fedora by the mid-'60s as a menswear staple among younger generations. Also, the shrinking size of cars - which didn't allow for a taller hat - added to the decline of the fedora. The ska revival in late 1970s in England brought a surge in the popularity of the trilby – a variation on the fedora with a very narrow brim, and turned up sharply in the back. Michael Jackson and the Indiana Jones character reintroduced the fedora in the 1980s in the United States. After a few decades of dormancy, the fedora is making another comeback since 2007, worn by celebrities like Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg, Carlos Santana, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, will.i.am, and others. Today the fedora is available in leather, suede, twill, fur, wool, canvas, and straw - as a hip, stylish accent for any outfit.
Its easy, if your a member you might wanna go to the lighthouse and buy some instruments. Then you can either have your band play the the stage, light house or your igloo. If you do it in your igloo, decorate it with lights, a stage and some speakers. Go to the town and announce you need band members to meet with you at wherever. Soon you will have a great band! Non-members, do the same but instead of instruments you can dance at the lighthouse or stage and sing! Your welcome :)
