Windows 8 is the newer version from Windows 7. It is very similar but have a lot of added features to it. The new start menu prior called Metro is one of the bigges changes you will notice. The start menu have also been removed but is comming back in Windows 8.1 (aka Blue) but will only take you to the new menu, not the old one. 8.1 is believed to arrive late 2013 trough Windows Update for all W8 users for free.
