What does it mean if a phone is EE locked?

If a phone is EE locked, it means that the device is restricted to use only on the EE network in the UK. Users cannot use the phone with other carriers unless it is unlocked, which usually involves a process provided by EE, often requiring the phone to be fully paid off and meeting certain criteria. This locking prevents the use of SIM cards from other networks.
