AUTOEXE.BAT and CONFIG.SYS. The two files that are used by DOS to configure a computer are AUTOEXE.BAT and CONFIG.SYS. In general, the CONFIG.SYS file sets up the operating system environment, and the AUTOEXE.BAT file sets up the user environment

Dos files are the files with the extension .bat which are used for programming in DOS. This is also called as batch file programming.
Dos commands are used to create or delete directories. The ATTRIB Command is used for locking and unlocking of files.
From the DOS prompt, you can copy most files only to a floppy as the system won't recognize any other devices (e.g. cd-rw).

The MSBACKUP program in DOS receives its settings from the setup file. This setup file features a .set extension and is created after you make file selections and configure backup settings.
No Dos is still used in many things today. Many programs are Windows Only due to them using Dos Files.
