It hasn't happened yet, although there have been back-to-back winners in the categories of Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor. Only two performers have ever won the Best Supporting Actress award twice -- Shelley Winters and Dianne Wiest -- but their wins came years apart. German actress Luise Rainer won back-to-back Best Actress awards for her performances in "The Great Ziegfeld" (1936) and "The Good Earth" (1937). Spencer Tracy won consecutive Best Actor awards for his work in "Captains Courageous" (1938) and "Boys Town" (1938). Tom Hanks duplicated the feat with back-to-back Best Actor wins for "Philadelphia" (1993) and "Forrest Gump" (1974). Jason Robards received consecutive Best Supporting Actor Oscars for his performances in "All the President's Men" (1976) and "Julia" (1977).
