The downwind side of a mountain is known as the leeward side of the mountain. This is where deserts and steppes begin to form due to the rain shadow.
The sharp jagged mountain top is called the peak. The very top of the mountain might also be referred to as the summit.

It will be easier to drink out of a straw from the top of a mountain than from New Orleans. This is because gravity has a stronger pull downward at New Orleans.
Downward communication is when the message flows from the top of an organization to the "bottom" - such as from bosses to workers, or management to employees, or parents to children, or principal to students.
When it rains on a mountain top, it creates a river. That river flows down carrying sediments witch end up in the beach.

When communication begins with lower levels of the organization (workers) and flows upward to management. Think of an organization as a pyramid. The base is larger - that's the workers. But the top is much smaller - that's top management. Conversely, downward communication is communication from top management that flows down to the lower level workers.

When there is that force that pulls downward. Example, when you climb a mountain. You will fell that there is that gravity pulling downward.
Wind is blowing air up over the mountain. Going from about 1,000 feet at the base to 7,000 feet at the top, the temperature changes as the air goes over the mountain.
