auto trans fluid its crazy i know
According to ( the ranger station . com ) no spaces ( Tech Library ) 5.6 pints ( that would be 2.8 quarts )
That would depend on what year of Ford Ranger
the manual trans should be dexIII auto fluid, sounds wrong but isnt, the auto trans i would think the same but not 100% on that
Your manual trans will use Dextron III Auto fluid. Yes, it uses Auto Fluid. That blew me away when I found that out. I thought it would have used gear oil, but that is not the case for the Firebird.
i would have it serviced with a manual trans. it isn't as easy as just adding fluid
You would add it in the same location whether you have the owners manual or not! (sorry, couldn't resist)
If it's automatic, then possibly low on fluid, trans solenoid problem, dirty trans filter. If manual, possibly clutch, throwout bearing, haydraulics etc.
Since this is not the type of transmission fluid that this engine calls for, you could possibly blow a rod or miss gears while shifting. I would not recommend this.
Depends a bit on if it's a manual or automatic transmission. On a manual trans, you'd have to ride the clutch to get it started. And you'd probably glaze the clutch quite soon.On a manual trans, take-off would be slower but otherwise no big deal.Metal shavings from damaged parts could contaminate the trans fluid and further damage could happen.
the speedometer wont work and quite likely the automatic transmission fluid or oil (manual trans) would leak out and the transmission would be ruined.
A better match would be auto trans. fluid
I was looking at the ( 1996 ) Ford F-150 owners manual and it shows for the 5 speed Overdrive manual transmission ( Mazda and ZF ) that you would have to buy ( 4 quarts / 4 liters ) and you would have a little left over
