I worked for them years ago and at that time the most lucrative area for salesman was the restaurant business. They are known for snack crackers, cookies, chips, Beef Jerkey, Sausages, Meat Sticks, a delicious oatmeal cake, various other cakes and honey buns, peanuts, (all nut types) pretzels, Cheese crackers that make wonderful meatloaf. They had more products than you could get into a 20 foot truck each day so you loaded the aisle and attacked the day very early. The restaurant business was Soda Crackers, Bread-sticks, Captain Wafers, Rye, Wheat , Multigrain crackers that are used in restaurants and Salad Bars, Nursing Homes, Hospitals, etc.
I forgot the peanut bar and that without a doubt is the most fabulous thing to see being Manufactured and I think the second most interesting thing to see being manufactured is the Corn Chip (like Fritos) which Lance made plain and BBQ. In rural America the BBQ was king in vending machines in High Schools. Last but not least the Cracker Meal (left over crumbs) was sold to Chicken and Fish Restaurants both in the 5# Bag and 30# case. Some would take 100 plus per week. The Chicken was FAMOUS and delicious.
and now you know the rest of the story.
