Pressure gradient,coriolis force and friction.

If the force due to pressure gradient were to act alone, then the wind moves from high pressure area to low pressure area.Coriolis force is an apparent force brought about by the rotation of the earth and it affects large scale wind systems. It deflects the winds to the right in the Northern hemisphere. This force varies with wind speed and latitude.Friction retards the air movement and is greatest near the surface.Effect of friction decreases rapidly above 2000 feet.Near the surface, due to friction air flows at an angle to the isobars(lines of equal pressure).

Further, gravity and centrifugal force(in the case of curved isobars) also affect wind systems.

How does force affect speed?

Well force does affect as energy (Strength) of the wind/something forcing it pushes something forward and backwards like a hurricane.

What affect will a reduction in surface wind speed have on the Coriolis force?

A reduction in surface wind speed will have a minor effect on the Coriolis force. The Coriolis force is primarily influenced by the Earth's rotation and the object's velocity, not the speed of the wind. Therefore, a decrease in wind speed will not significantly alter the Coriolis force.

When wind pushes against a?

When wind pushes against a surface, it can create a force known as wind resistance or drag. This force increases with the wind speed and the surface area of the object being pushed. The shape and orientation of the object can also affect the amount of wind resistance it experiences.

What are factors that affect speed of a baseball?

mass and weight, wind, materials its made from, and force applied.

How does wind affect a tennis ball when thrown?

it changes its course of flight because of the aerodynamics plus the force of the wind makes it so that it will slightly change its path of force like newton's first law of motion states a object will remain moving until a force has acted upon it that force is wind making it change its course of flight.

What are Causes or driving forces that affect currents in the ocean?

The main driving force is wind, but it is also affected by the earths rotation, solar energies, and gravity.

What is an instrument for measuring wind force?

You can measure wind force with force transducer.

Does wind affect rubber?

wind has no affect on rubber

Which is a physical force that will affect your vehicle handling ability?

Wind can affect your vehicle's handling ability by pushing against the car, causing it to sway or veer off course.

What are the two main factors that affect wind speed?

The two main factors that affect wind speed are the pressure gradient force, which causes air to move from areas of high pressure to low pressure, and friction with the Earth's surface, which slows down wind speeds closer to the ground.

Does force affect how far an object travels?

Yes, force can affect how far an object travels. The greater the force applied to an object, the farther it is likely to travel. This is because force influences the acceleration of the object, which in turn affects its speed and distance covered.

What information does the wind speed force chart provide?

The wind speed force chart provides information on the relationship between wind speed and the force of the wind, helping to understand how strong the wind is at different speeds.
