Gravitational force is most commonly associated with potential energy.

Whenever we lift an object (move it further from the earth's center), like taking it from the bottom of a hill to the top, or taking it from the floor and placing it on a shelf, table, or chair; we increase the potential energy of the object.

There is no one force that converts potential energy into kinetic, as there is not just one kind of potential energy.

If it's gravitational potential energy, gravity is the force involved.

If it's spring potential energy, it's the spring force.

There are many kinds of potential energy, and different forces involved.

When does potential energy equal kinetic energy?

well kinetic energy is when some thing is moving and potential energy is the highest point so think of it this way a boy siting in his chair sitting still and a girl standing up jog in place the girl has potential and kinetic

When potential energy turns into electrical energy which form of energy does potential first become?

Potential energy becomes static energy in the form of a difference of potential energy between two bodies, or clouds of charged particles. For instance the motion of any object against another object causes particles to become statically charged. That is potential and electrical. Once an electrical path is found between those fields the electrical force becomes similar to kinetic force and this is current.

When an object loses kinetic energy due to a force of kinetic friction is the loss of kinetic energy transformed primarily into potential or thermal energy?

Kinetic friction is associated with thermal energy (and sound or light).

Does mind have kinetic energy?

No, the mind does not possess kinetic energy. Kinetic energy is energy that is created by a force or motion.

True or false does potential energy depends on height is gravitational potential energy?

It is true that an object has more potential energy as it is raised higher. ?As the object falls from a height, the force of gravity will convert the potential energy into kinetic energy. ?The further it falls, the more kinetic energy will be gained. ?Conversely, the higher an object is raised, the more potential energy it has. This follows the equation? work = force x distance that force movesTherefore, the higher an object is, the greater the distance that the force of gravity will move as it accelerates the object while it falls. ?As it approaches the ground, it will have lost all potential energy but it will have kinetic energy of the same amount.Important note: ?The discussion about all potential energy being converted to kinetic energy above ignores air resistance. ?In the real world, air applies a frictional force on a body and will have the effect of slowing the object. ?Therefore, some of the potential energy will actually be turned to heat rather than ?kinetic energy. ?Most school physics questions will also ignore resistance due to air and therefore the description above works perfectly well for almost every question that will be seen.

What is relationship between potential energy and kinetic energy?

Both are mechanical force.

How is kinetic energy formed?

Kinetic energy is a form of energy that comes from motion. Therefore any moving object (that has a mass!) has kinetic energy. For kinetic energy to be produced, a force must act upon an object to give it an acceleration, to put it in motion. The simplest case is the conversion of potentiel energy to kinetic energy. When an object is far from its "normal" standing position (in this case the ground), it is said to have potential energy. When this object is attracted by the force of gravity, its potential energy is slowly converting into kinetic energy because the objet keeps on accelerating.

Is gravity potential or kinetic energy?

Gravity is a force more so than an energy

Is a bicycle coasting on a level sidewalk potential or kinetic energy?

kinetic because it is using force. it would be potential if it was at the top of a hill.

What do the sentence mean an object's total kinetic and potential energy?

Kinetic energy is the energy of motion. Kinetic energy is stored in an object when you apply force to it, lifting it, for example. That energy stays in the object as potential energy until it is released when you drop the object.

How does kenetic and potential energy affect soccer in general?

In soccer, you have a soccer ball. The ball has potential energy. When you kick the ball, the potential becomes kinetic energy and the ball moves. However, your foot has potential energy as well (all matter has potential energy because all matter has the potential to move). When you kick with your foot that potential energy becomes kinetic energy. When the soccer ball is on the ground it actually has no potential energy because potential energy is only associated with height. When the ball is kicked however the kinetic energy from the player is passed on to the ball. That kinetic energy makes the ball move. If the ball is kicked into the air then the kinetic energy is passed on and some of that kinetic energy transforms into potential energy and kinetic.

What two things do potential and kinetic energy need to gain more energy?

Well, basically, the higher an object is above the ground, the more potential energy it has. For kinetic energy, the amount of energy depends on the amount of force.
