The DNA is put in chromosomes that stay in the nucleus and stay in there for when the cell reproduces and splits into 2 sister cells.
Long strands of DNA wind around themselves and there by condense in size. Similar to twisting a rubber band around itself many times, as you do so, it shortens or condenses in size.
It has to be supercoiled

It is literally packed into the entire area bound by the nuclear membrane.
DNA is located in an organisms cells. It depends, however, on what kind of organism it is. In a prokaryotic cell (single celled organisms), the DNA is more or less free floating in the cytoplasm, inside the cell wall. However, in a Eukaryotic Cell (multi-celled organisms), the DNA is located tightly packed in the nucleus of the cell.
Its inside the nucleus and near the nucleolus.

The DNA is coiled round and packed very tight so it can fit inside something as small as a nucleus.
The nucleus.

The nucleus
DNA in eukaryotes is mostly found inside the nucleus. However there is a small amount of DNA contained in the mitochondria.
