I take Spanish class but when I read this question I asked my Spanish teacher, she said hanging in French is "pendaison". That is the word for a hanging of a criminal. "There will be a hanging at noon" is "Il y aura une pendaison a midi."

Words having to do with dangling something at the end of a rope are all based on the verb "pendre" to hang. However, if you are talking about hanging something on a hook, you would use the word "accrocher".
