Don't feed citrus or anything you would find in your backyard, due to the fact that anything can get on grass, weeds, flowers anything like that outside. It's also not a good idea to collect crickets from outside due to the fact that you don't know what they might have been into before.

Also do not give your dragon Iceberg Lettuce it has little to no nutritional value what so ever. It is basically water. Also keep house plants away from your dragon.

This previous answer said only feed food that you get in the pet store...but honestly I've never seen a petstore that carries fresh carrots, kale, romain lettuce among other produce that dragons can eat. So grocery stores should be just fine.

As long as they are washed to remove any possible pesticide residue I do not know of any fruit that cannot be fed to a beardie. Mine LOVES apples, mango, melons and grapes. Just be sure they are cut small enough to bite. Also, mine has trouble picking most fruit up with her tongue so I blot it with a paper towel after it is cut.

Bearded dragons can eat a wide variety of protein, fruit and vegetables

  • Protein: live mealworms, waxworms and crickets t
  • Vegetables: ( 25% of a young beardie’s diet and 50% of an adult’s. Include kale, collard greens, mustard greens, zucchini and shredded carrots.
  • Packaged food: Commercial food with high-protein formulas for juvenile lizards and lower-protein versions for the adults
The only forbidden food appears to be iceberg lettuce, but check with your vet in establishing the diet. The vet can also give instructions on water and dietary supplements
