I found it was a Yellow 20 Amp fuse (Fuse 56) on the Fuse board.
This can be found by opening the glove box, and squeezing inwards the sides, this then drops down to reveal the fuse board.
NB this was for my Transit Connect 2003.
there is a brake light fuse in the pannel you just need to look for it.
A fuse does not control the flow in a circuit, it limits the current in a circuit. If the load in a circuit shorts out the fuse link melts and opens the circuit and stops the current flow and prevents the wires feeding the circuit from melting and catching fire. resist
Assuming the wiring is sized for 12 amps, you can replace your fuse with any 12 amp fuse or smaller and with a voltage rating at or above what you expect to connect to it. The amp rating protects the wire, so you cannot go above what the wire can handle. The voltage rating is the max voltage that it can safely protect, so you cannot use a fuse with a lower voltage rating than you expect to connect to.
This is a short circuit which will create sparks. The breaker or fuse on the circuit will likely trip or blow.
You connect the fuse to the live wire as it is the one with the potential difference of 220V and in case of short circuit current will blow out here
