Maximum amps 6 gage copper wire?

What is amp rating for 10 gauge fuse link?

A 10 Gage wire will carry 30 amps. But if you are talking 10 Gage fusible link wire then that's different, a fusible link wire is a delayed fuse & will melt if over loaded. The general rule of thumb in the automotive trade is use a fusible link wire 2 Gage smaller then the load wire. If you are using a 10 Gage wire then you should protect the circuit with 14 Gage fusible link. I hope this helps!

What electrical quantity causes energy loss to heat in cables?

The Flow of electrons through the line. Now if you have say 45 amps moving through a 20 gage line. It will over heat and loss a lot of power. But if you move the same amps through a 8 gage line then the Heat will not build up and the line will stay cooler. So you will not lose power.

How do you tell if a voltage regulator is not working in an old pickup truck?

The best and easyest ways to tell would be to use a voltage tester/volt meter with the engine running. I would take the volt meter and hook it up to the battery and take a reading with the engine running around 1000 R.P.M. .The average reading should be around 13.50 to 14.50 volts DC (this is with a 12 volt system) the truck should have something on the dash to indacate the status of the charging system, some times its a amp gage or a bulb.If you have a bulb system, the light should be out while the engine is running. To check the bulb with the engine off,key on the bulb should be lit, this is a way to check the bulb. the bulb should also be lit while cranking. If you have a gage-the gage is either volts or amps. if the gage reads in volts the reading should be simler to the volt meter reading that was taken at the battery. If you have a amp gage-their usually have a zero in the middle of the gage, usually to the left of the zero would indacate a negitive numbernot charging,if the reading is to the right of the zero that would indacate charging(note:amp readinga are with engine running @ 1000 R.P.M.) also note the you ahould have all accories turned off.

How do you change starter relay on 1996 Cadillac Eldorado?

On a 1996 Cadillac Deville the starter relay or starter enable relay is located under the hood on the drivers side. Remove the black plastic cover that encloses the fuses and relay center. There are several relays in there. You are looking for the relay that has a Red 10 gage wire, a Yellow 10 gage wire, a 16 gage Yellow with Black stripe, a 10 gage Purple wire. Locate this relay unplug wire and plug it into your new relay. I have been told that the relay is a dealer item. The parts stores say that it is a square gray, four prong relay but, this is not true, wrong part. If you have a volt meater test your wires, the red 10 gage wire should have 12 volts with the key on. The 10 gage Yellow wire should have 12 volts in the crank position. The 16 gage wire yellow with black is a ground in the crank position. The 10 gage purple goes to the starter if you use a jumper wire and conect the red to the purple the starter should crank. Hope this will help good luck !
