James calls Bella and says that he has her mother and that if Bella doesn't come to him alone, he will kill her mother. She leaves a note for Edward and sneaks in taxi going to the airport. Then she gets on a flight to Phoenix, Arizona and meets James at her old ballet studio. It winds up that James didn't have her mother and he was just playing a recording. Then he attacks her and breaks her leg. He also bites her wrist. That is the conflict. The rising action is when the Cullens save her and everything that happens after that.
