Most tires are filled with regular air which has been compressed, In the last few years, using nitrogen to fill tires has become popular. Rumor has it that nitrogen is better but I don't know why. A common practice is to use a green value stem cap when nitrogen is used in place of regular air. I suspect the nitrogen use is mainly a sales point and probably make very little difference in passanger car tires (or tyres as you call them). The tire pressure is certainly more important than the type of gas that is located within. vbd

Nitrogen gas is used in tires because it has larger molecules compared to oxygen and other gases, reducing the rate at which it permeates through the tire rubber. This helps to maintain tire pressure for longer periods, leading to better fuel efficiency, longer tire life, and improved safety.
