Yes
Overdrive is the normally allowed position in a Ford Explorer automatic transmission , once the vehicle speed is fast enough ( my Ford Explorer is 50 MPH ) the automatic transmission will automatically shift into overdrive
Ford specifies Mercon Automatic Transmission fluid in the manual trans.
its the ecm it controls that too
D4 on an automatic and 5th gear in a manual.
whaat? well if its automatic, then just put it in d or d4 and it will be automatic. Since it is an old car you don't want to have the engine go at high rpm's usually above 3500. So on the highway keep it at the lowest gear, 5th for a stick. and shift the gear when you hit 3000 rpm's.
I have the same problem!
automatic or manual? automatic, use mercron manual, use gear lube
I had a 1991 Ford Mustang 5.0 L - LX - automatic , and it had 2.73 's
The overdrive is designed for speeds after 50 mph so your overdrive should not be engaged until you are driving on the highway. The overdrive gear is designed for fuel efficiency and does nothing in town.
