There are 3 rows of gears. Oil the middle row of gears. That row consists of smaller gears, therefore need less oil. Hold the oil can over a gear and click down until the gear shines and it won't let you oil anymore, then move onto the next gear in that row. There is the perfect amount of oil for that one row. Any other row, you will run out of oil.

Ok so, once you are done with the gold pan then you go back to the trading post. Then you go and trade the pan back to the dude and ask for the oil can. Next you go to the clock tower. Be careful not to get on the rotting pieces of wood because they will break and you will fall down. Once you get there oil the gears use it wisely because the oil is limited.:D

Once you get the saddle from the girl cow herder in Rock Ridge, swap it for the oil can at the Trading Post in Dusty Gulch. In the clock tower at Diamond Plains, only oil the middle set of gears, as you don't have enough oil for the rusted sets that are along the top and bottom. You add oil to each gear until it sparkles, then you can't add any more.

Once you get the cow rounded up you'll get a saddle you then go trade the saddle for the gold can and go to the river and get gold. After that say you want to trade again and get the oil then go to the clock and go to the top and when your there you oil the path in the middle once they are perfectly oiled they should twinkle or gleam

You go into the tower where the guy is working at and you go inside and you go through a maze thing, then you get to the gears at the top and you oil the ones that connect the two silver gears

You oil the gears that go straight across the circle, you oil them until you get a little sparkle when you stop oiling them.

You oil the middle gears. dont worry about the gears on the edges. it might take quite a few tries to get all the gears oiled though
