== == it is the same i don't have figures with me, but I believe eating disorders affect females more than males. 8,000,000 or more people in the United States have an eating disorder, 90% are women.
Girls are often under far more pressure then guys are to look a certain way. Society is much harsher on females in real life and in the media to be thin (at the moment). Men are ften judged on body physique, like height and build and muscle, while women are judged more on beauty, personality, and thin-ness. For this reason, women and girls are under more pressure to look a certain way and to be thinner, so eating disorders are more prevalent.
yes, because girls are more worried about there apperiance in todays society where as guys apperiance is directed differently. girls observe that skinny is projected to be better( even though its really not. healthy is better) so that's what they aim for.
Guys view that bigger and stronger is projected to be better (even though its not either, healthier is best) so they are less likely to be victims of anorexia.
More often, it is girls, but about 1 million boys currently have been diagnosed as well.
Women.
