HIV is passed through an exchange of body fluids. If one individual is HIV positive, and the other is not, it is the latter individual mentioned who is at risk of contracting the disease from the one who already has it.

Both gay men and straight men can get HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. And while sex is the most common means of transmitting it, some men who are addicted to drugs get it from unsafe use of unclean needles. It is also a fact that women can contract this virus, if they have had unprotected sex with a man who is carrying the disease.

Are military men less likely to get HIV because they are tested all the time Or are most men in the military HIV free?

military or non military has no bearing on HIV. unprotected sexual exposure is what CAN lead to HIV.................'Straight' men and women are just as likely to contract HIV as bi-sexual or 'gay' men. In the U.S. around 30% of HIV infections are caused by female-to-male sexual contact. If you tested positive, you'll be ok. It's highly treatable, though not yet curable.
