Females
Usually the eating disorder starts in the mind. Eating disorders are psychological disorders (image disorders).
Eating disorders tend to affect mostly girls (girls : boys, 9 : 1) between the ages of roughyl 12 to 25, although it can appear outside this age group (almost always older, not usually younger than 12) or to males. 95% of all eating disorder cases are in the middle- or upper-class, and 2/3 are in Western Society.
People with eating disorders aren't really being harmed economically. The only problem they might be facing is doctors bills or insurance costs, mostly.
Eating disorders are most common problems of today world. And it can be at any age. The National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders quotes some disturbing facts regarding eating disorders: 8,000,000 or more people in the United States have an eating disorder, 90% are women. Victims may be rich or poor. Eating disorders usually start in the teens but may begin as early as age 8.
Cortical irritability is when an increase of beta activity and corresponding over-activation is seen in areas associated with areas of epileptic focus and is associated with hallucinations. Sometimes the increase of beta-activity can be visualized as spindling beta rhythms which can be recognized as cortical irritability, epilepsy, toxic encephalopathies and is mostly seen around the waxing and waning spindles over the effected cortex.I do not think that cortical irritability has anything to do with eating disorders, but people with eating disorders are usually irritable, but outside of that I haven't the foggiest.

We were mostly effected positively, it has made Europe one of the wealthiest continents.
Both are eating disorders. Anorexia is characterized by self-starvation and increase exercise. Bulimia is mostly noted through bingeing (eating a lot in a short amount of time) followed quickly by purging (throwing up or using laxatives) shortly thereafter. Some people can suffer from both disorders.
Most eating disorders are mental to begin with. They rarely stem from just the simple desire to lose weight. If they have a negative influence in their life (media, 'friends', family, bullies, etc.) telling them they are fat then that is what causes the eating disorder. People who develop eating disorders are usually just trying to control their lives. Being able to control how much they do or do not eat is a way to maintain that illusion of control which (mostly, to them at least) makes up for lack of control in other areas of their lives. Many people who suffer from eating disorders never fully recover because they have been relying on this outlet for so long that they have never learned positive ways to deal with their problems. Eating disorders are a cycle and most people tend to fall right back into the order of things because it has become a habit.
People with an eating disorder spend all of their time thinking about food and their weight. They do not socialize. They do not develop their social skills or learn how to deal with the opposite gender. They get off into a corner by themselves and they do not develop. All they have left is the eating disorder.
Mostly gender differentiation has been known to be the root cause of gender inequality.
