Abnormal shape in RBC's Sickle Cell trait and disease will cause poikilocytic red blood cells.
Ovalocytes are abnormally shaped red blood cells that are oval or egg-shaped, rather than the normal round shape. This condition can be seen in various disorders such as hereditary elliptocytosis and thalassemia. Ovalocytes can affect the ability of red blood cells to carry oxygen efficiently.
The most common symptom of a genetic disorder is the abnormality in chromosome structure or number. People with a genetic disorder have a distinct physical or facial feature like abnormally shaped ears.
