The civilization were able to transport heavy thing in large boats, as cars and trucks were not invented then. As the Nile is a river it does flow downstream naturally, so boats could flow with the stream to their destination. The Nile is also said to be a calm river which would make it ideal for transportation of goods and to this day, imports and exports are still transported along the Nile and remains a historical place.
