The Near Islands and the Islands of Four Mountains are groups of small islands within the Aleutian Islands (the "tail" of the Alaska Peninsula). The Near Islands are the westernmost in the Aleutian Island chain.
The islands of the long chain that extends from the Alaska peninsula are the Aleutian Islands. There are many other small islands along the lower coast, in the Bering Sea, and in the Arctic Ocean.Notable is the island of Little Diomede in the Bering Strait, just 2.4 miles from the Russian island of Big Diomede, to the west across the International Date Line.

The Aleutian Islands in Alaska is the originally home of the indigenous Aleut people. However, the small remaining population has been relocated to the Pribilof Islands.
The words for a group of islands may be a chain or an archipelago.
A group of small islands
A small archipelago or group of islands.
The Aleutian Islands are located in Alaska. Aleutian Islands are a group of more than 300 small volcanic islands forming part of the Aleutian Arc in the Northern Pacific Ocean, occupying an area of 6,821 sq mi (17,666 km²) and extending about 1,200 mi (1,931 km) westward from the Alaska Peninsula toward the Kamchatka Peninsula. The islands were explored in 1741 by Vitus Bering, a Danish navigator employed by Russia, and remained under Russian control until Alaska was purchased by the United States in 1867. The islands are the site of U.S. military bases and research stations. (see the related link)
There are at least two: the Aleutians in Alaska, and the Keys in Florida. The Hawaiian Islands, 5Oth US state, consist entirely of an archipelago.

Canada shares a border with Alaska. In some ways it could be said that Russia also borders Alaska. There are two small islands in the Bering Straight between Alaska and Russia that are only about a mile apart. The name of these islands is Big Diomede and Little Diomede Islands. One of the islands is part of Alaska and belongs to the U.S., the other is part of Siberia and belongs to Russia. At times there is ice connecting the islands and it is possible to walk from one island to the other, thus crossing a border shared and between the U.S. and Russia.
