In 1998, the largest immigrant groups to South Dakota were Mexican, Filipino, and Russian. Current immigrant groups in South Dakota include Karen and Karenni from Burma, Bhutanese, Somalis, Eritreans, Congolese, Darfuris, Afghanis, and Iraqis.
