By most accounts, Abraham Lincoln was not religious, although he was certainly from a Protestant Christian background. But there is little evidence that he attended any church regularly for much of his life. However, Presbyterian sources say that in 1850, after the Lincolns’ son Eddie died, the family was comforted by the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Springfield; Pastor James Smith became a friend and support to Mrs. Lincoln, who did join that church, and at certain times, Mr. Lincoln went with her to services at the First Presbyterian Church.
Abraham Lincoln believed that all peoples were covered by the Declaration of Independence. He argued that if Blacks could be excluded then other people could also be excluded. In that situation, Lincoln argued that no group was safe.
Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation freed slaves, African Americans, or blacks, whatever you want to call them.
Firstly, I am assuming that you mean assassinated, as opposed to associated. The man that shot him (John Wilkes Booth) was from the South, and was part of a group that did not like his views on slavery. Lincoln and most people from the North wanted to abolish slavery, but most people from the South wanted to keep trading slaves. This was the main reason for the civil war, and the reason that Lincoln was shot. Booth was NOT from the south. He was from Maryland. He was however a confederate sympathizer.
There were many groups and people who were against Abraham Lincoln in 1864. Anyone who did not want to see slavery abolished where the front runners. A group of Northerners known as the Copperheads were some fo the more vocal.
Abraham Lincoln was buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery. However thieves tried to steal the body and hold it for ransom. So it was decided that the coffin would be put inside a cage and buried in rock. This was done in 1901.http://rogerjnorton.com/Lincoln13.html
