The power of a lens depends on the differences in the refractive indices of the environment and the lens material. A glass lens immersed in water will loose power (a positive lens will focus at a greater distance). (This is for normal glass with refractive index greater than water - there could be glasses with refractive index less than water in which case the lens would gain power)
It may if it were heated, then immersed in cold water.
If it is less dense, it will float If it is denser, it will sink.
the water spills
A cell immersed is a hypertonic solution will tend to lose water to the solution and shrink.
phosphorous is kept immersed in water because it reacts with air.
Nothing will happen. If you step out of a vehicle on the earth carrying a glass of water, what happens? The water remains in the glass. This is because of the earth's gravity. Moon also has gravity. So water will remain in the glass. But when you tip the glass to pour the water there will be a difference.Water will fall towards the surface of the earth six times faster than it will do on the moon.
increase
It will melt.
the volume of water increased when the water is froze
The pH glass electrode is immersed in water because the outer layer of glass become soft (microscopic level). The external layer become hydrated. The cations in the solution are exchanged. This process is called cation exchange method.
