The governor controls the speed of the power source rotating the generator. This has to be continually adjusted to match the load on the generator. In fact, I just happen to know a bit about wind power generators. A wind power generator is a turbine connected to a transistor mounted on a large pole. As power factor changes, the amount of current flowing that is due to reactive power will also change.
