all depends who your facing and how. you could play a nice, friendly duel for fun, or a duel with a bet for money, or a tounament duel to win the cup/ribbon/prize money, or be forced to duel with a gun pointed at your head, and lose your life, or if your dueling in the shadow realm, if you lose, you lose your mind, ect.
Jikkyō GI Stable happened in 1999.

fright for shadow goul
At the moment, no, there is no 3DS-specific Yu-Gi-Oh game.
No, but there are Yu-GI-OH trading cards. It is a card game, you can't actually summon a monster! Well... Yes and No.... Yu-gi-oh IS a real TCG (trading card game) and is played the same as in the anime series (with a few slight changes) But there are no holographic monsters that pop out during a duel... Also, Yu-gi-oh is a pretty popular game but there are not that many people so open to it as in the anime and there are tournaments are nothing the same. The tournaments are simply a large groupe of "duelists" dueling each other in a room set up similar to a chess tournament....
I do not play the Yu-Gi-Oh card game with my friends.
The last Yu-Gi-Oh! game to come out for the Game Boy Advance was Yu-Gi-Oh Ultimate Masters: World Championship Tournament 2006 on March 14, 2006.
Kazuki Takahashi created the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game but the game itself was developed by Konami .
